Tipping or NOT?
Resorts will leave a staff tipping box out. This is normally found in Reception or the Main Restaurant. In the Maldives, staff outnumber guests by almost 2 to 1 and in some 5* resorts by up to 5 to 1. it is for the unseen staff that this tipping box is for, after all, although you may not see them, they are all there helping the resort to function smoothly and efficiently. As a guide $10 to 20 per week is a good amount to put in the box for these unseen members of staff.
Other members of staff will give you good service throughout your stay and I would recommend tipping them either $1 to $2 per day, or $10 to $20 per week. Dive boat crew and Spa staff would usually be $5 to $10 dollars per trip / treatment. Bell boys should be tipped around $1 to $2 dollars per bag. You don’t have to tip taxi drivers unless they handle your bags, if this is the case then $2 to $5 is about right.
To sum up tipping in the Maldives, please leave a tip in the staff box for those unseen members of staff that work hard to make the resort run smoothly. Give personal tips to those members of staff who have made your holiday special.
Due to the amount of time it will take to travel to Maldives we would suggest when planning this trip to allow a day and a half of travel before and after the actual 7 days of being in MALDIVES to be able to enjoy your time in Maldives. You do not want to use the 7 days you have for Maldives and only end up with really 4.

Seaplane Transfer The Sea Plane Transfers are carried out by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA). The flight duration is 25 min. Lily Beach Resort & Spa will assist in booking and coordinating the transfers from and to Male International Airport. Please note Flights Schedules are operated by TMA and could at times be subject to change due to operational requirements or weather conditions. It is not a responsibility of the Resort if the flight operator delays or cancels flights due to one of the above reasons. As per Flight Safety and Security Regulations the Sea Plane flights are only operated in day time hours. Late evening transfers are not available therefore it is necessary to advise the guests to make prior arrangements for overnight in Male' or alternatively request a domestic flight transfer. Time, and the timing of the Departure Sea Plane Transfer from the Resort to Male International Airport will be advised one day prior to arrival & departure.
